Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about your safari adventure. From booking processes to what to pack, we've gathered the essentials below.
Booking and payments
Booking is straightforward. You can select your preferred tour on our site or contact us for a custom itinerary. Once details are finalised, we send a secure booking form and invoice. A 20% deposit secures your dates, with the balance due 30 days prior to arrival.
We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex) through our secure payment gateway, as well as direct bank transfers (EFT). For international travellers, we recommend bank transfers for larger amounts to avoid card processing fees.
Cancellations more than 60 days before travel lose the deposit only; the rest of the package price is refunded. Between 60 and 30 days, 50% of the total package is charged. Between 30 and 15 days, 75% of the total is charged. Within 14 days the booking is non-refundable. We will help with travel-insurance claims.
Where we travel
We arrange day tours and safaris in South Africa, including Kruger and the Cape Winelands, plus Namibia, Botswana, Victoria Falls, and East Africa. Our East Africa trips include the Serengeti.
Generally, the dry season (May to October) is best for wildlife viewing as animals congregate at waterholes. However, the 'green season' (November to April) is spectacular for birdwatching and seeing newborn animals at lower prices.
What to pack
Pack light and choose neutral colours (khaki, beige, olive). Mornings and evenings can be freezing, so layers are critical. Don't forget a wide-brimmed hat, high-SPF sunscreen, a good camera with zoom, and comfortable walking shoes.
While not strictly a legal requirement for entry in all countries, we consider comprehensive travel insurance mandatory for our tours. It must cover medical evacuation and tour cancellation to protect your investment in case of unforeseen events.
Staying safe
Our guides are professionally trained and certified, with years of experience reading animal behaviour. We maintain strict safety protocols regarding distances from animals and vehicle movements to ensure a safe, respectful encounter.
Some safari areas are in malaria-risk zones. We strongly advise consulting with a travel clinic at least 6 weeks before departure. Most guests take prophylactics and use insect repellent. We also provide mosquito nets in all risk-area accommodations.
On safari
Unless stated otherwise, our tours include all ground transportation, park entry fees, accommodation, most meals, bottled water, and a professional English-speaking guide. International flights, visas, and tips are typically excluded.
Both. Our scheduled group departures are more affordable and a great way to meet fellow travellers. However, we also specialise in bespoke private safaris for families, couples, or photography groups who want a customised pace.
